TARA JACOBS
Squamish Nation
Tara Jacobs is a leather worker creating functional jewelry, wall hangings, bags and other decorative items with a First Nations twist.
She is from Squamish Nation and grew up watching her grandfather make ridding Saddles which inspired her to use leather as a medium.
Sometimes there is also the opportunity to collaborate with other artists such as Matthew Baker and combine his traditional painted artworks onto her leather goods and other items.
Keeping with tradition and using renewable resources, she looks to nature for inspiration and likes to create something that tells a story and reminds one of good times and memories.
