“The Frog is the voice of the people. He strives for family unity, is one who teaches by example and is sometimes a symbol of innocence. This frog is more ‘us’ and ‘we’ and less ‘I’. This frog design, representing one families emblem, has been shaped to fit a ceremonial and practical bentwood box. The highly decorated Boxes were symbols of wealth. Fishermen used boxes to carry tackle and supplies. Some were used for cooking and storage, while others were used for burial purposes for the esteemed chiefs.”
