Eco Friendly Raven Jute Bag designed by Bill Helin, Tsimshian Nation.
Jute is the second most important vegetable fiber after cotton. Jute is an Eco-friendly alternative to all other synthetic bags due to it’s biodegradable nature. This is why young trees for planting are wrapped in Jute and inserted directly into the soil. It is non toxic and decomposes swiftly back into the soil.
Raven is the creator of the world and symbolizes prestige and knowledge. In Haida legend there was a time when the whole world was dark and the light was hidden in a box. The Raven, also known as the trickster decided to steal the light and fled spilling pieces of light that became our stars and then dropped the light down to earth.
