Morgan Green‘s Tsimshian name is Lu’uth, which translates to “Eagle Who Stays Near the Nest.” She is the daughter of acclaimed artist Henry Green. In 2003, Morgan enrolled in the Blanche Macdonald Centre’s Fashion Design program where she received formal training in clothing construction, drafting, color theory, and illustration. Morgan continued to work in the fashion industry until 2006, when she received a grant from Vancouver International Airport, and added wood-carving to her set of skills. Her work is currently on display in the International Departures area. In 2007, Morgan assisted Haida/Salish carver Jordon Seward in the creation of a 30-foot memorial totem pole for Vancouver’s missing women of the Downtown Eastside. In 2010, Morgan began studying at Vancouver Metal Art School under Gerold Mueller, a goldsmith from Pforzheim, Germany. In 2014, she had a major solo exhibition at Vancouver’s Bill Reid Gallery titled Ts’msyen Transforming, which displayed examples of her hollow-form jewellery. Morgan’s mentors include Jordon Seward, Richard Adkins, Alano Edzerza, and Dave Jack.
