ED NOISECAT
Lil’wat Nation/interior Salish Canim Lake
Ed Archie NoiseCat’s work is visually powerful as it recounts the ancient North American myths, posing fundamental questions and illustrating the primal conflicts of culture and mankind.
NoiseCat grew up in Canim Lake Band in Northern BC. He draws inspiration from his mother’s Shuswap Nation, and from his father’s people, the Lil’wat Nation.
Trained as a master printmaker at the Emily Carr College of Art & Design, NoiseCat’s vision was then distilled by experience as a fine art lithographer in New York and Boston before beginning his exploration as a contemporary artist of monumental sculpture, working in mixed multimedia including works in glass, wood, steel, bronze, silver and gold.
“Our artists can be just as serious in the fine art world as anyone else… More importantly, our youth need to know that they should, and they can, chase their dreams.”
